What does a writing and editing consultant do? I help my clients complete their writing projects. Since 1993, in my capacity as a writing and editing consultant, I have worked on everything from computer software manuals and business reports, to creative memoirs and suspense novels. My services include ghostwriting, editing, proofreading, manuscript formatting, and coaching. So long as your writing project is not being submitted for academic credit, I can help you with any and all aspects of the creative process. This includes business letters and reports, resumes and CVs, personal letters, novels, memoirs, short stories, and just about everything else. I am a student. What can you do for me? Students often ask me to write their papers for them. Well, that would be a little unethical. OK, it would be very unethical. However, once you have done your research and written your work, I can proofread and edit your assignments. In addition, I try to teach you about the writing process. I care about writing, and I will try to help you care about it as well. Believe it or not, writing can be an enjoyable process. Fear is the biggest problem I see. Another problem is that universities are always increasing the size of their classes, which gives professors virtually no chance to help students with their writing. Even most English professors don't have time to teach their students about writing. It's a shame, but it's true. So if you need help with an assignment, be it a freshman essay, a Ph.D. dissertation, or something in between, please give me a call. I have taught English since 1988, including five years at Florida International University, so I know how important good writing is to your academic success. I am a younger student. Do you work with school age clients too? Yes. Before I taught university courses, I taught middle school and high school English. I am certified by the State of Florida to teach English for grades 6-12. I have a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. Is my personal statement or application essay important? An outstanding essay is only one component of a successful application package. However, a poor essay can doom your application. Admission committee members are looking for any reason they can find to reject you. They have many excellent candidates to choose from. So can you help me prepare my personal statement, application essay, or AMCAS essay? Yes. I can help you write your essay for any graduate or undergraduate program. Most often, I help students prepare essays for programs in medicine, law, social work, dentistry, education, liberal arts, and business administration, but whatever your field is, I can help you prepare a personal statement that will help you follow your academic dreams. What about your fees? Is it expensive? You will find that my fees are in line with other consultants. The bottom line is this: You're looking at my website for a reason. If your goals are important, the cost of my services is minimal. Imagine the cost of turning in a sloppy, error-filled resume, a boring personal statement filled with grammatical errors, or a novel manuscript that editors will discard before the end of the first page. Very often, my clients hire me after they suffer the disappointment that comes from relying on a relative, a friend, or a neighbor to help them with their writing. Can you help me even though I don't live in South Florida? If you are looking for a writing tutor, you might want to find someone in your part of the world, but in most cases, I CAN help you--whether you live across the street or across the country. In addition to my many clients in Florida, I have served clients in Alabama, California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, New Mexico, and South Carolina. For large projects, such as collaborative writing, ghostwriting, business writing seminars, and expert testimony, I am available to travel to your location. Otherwise, we'll communicate via telephone, email, fax--or some combination of these. Do you charge a fee for an initial consultation? There is no charge for an initial telephone or email inquiry, so if you have questions, you may contact me without further obligation. My office number is (954) 925-4428. I look forward to hearing from you. |
